Artist's Bio!

Laura Adams is a narrative, mixed media artist based in Philadelphia, PA but raised in the small town of Lambertville, NJ. Her upbringing in the openly queer and vastly artistic community of Lambertville taught Laura the importance of self-expression early on. She also began working with metal from a young age and established a basic set of skills by the age of thirteen. Laura uses metal, glass, fiber, plastic and more to create illustrations driven by intuition. She employs lost wax casting, mold-making, hand and laser engraving, flameworking, sewing, video, and a variety of other tools and methods to bring her extravagant ideas to life. When put all together Laura creates an object that simulates the narrative of the piece for the viewer. Laura often describes her work as gaudy, gory, and gay. She is currently studying at Tyler School of Art and Architecture majoring in Metals and Jewelry CAD CAM. In 2023 she interned for Paolo Magano an art jeweler in Rome where Laura worked under him practicing the lost wax casting technique. Her time abroad expanded her skillset and opened her mind to new possibilities. She completed a piece of her own during the internship which was then put on exhibition. In her senior year Laura is taking on new skills such as stained glass and she is preparing for her thesis show in April. She hopes to encourage others to embrace what makes them unique and express themselves through creation and vulnerability.
